We ended our vacation in Costa Rica with Magic Moon, in the awesome area of Puerto Viejo. I looked at every house/villa in the area and did as much research I could on all the ones that was interested in. Magic Moon won us over, ......AND DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Anja is a perfect host, and is great to work with. She replied to all my emails fast, and made it very easy to book our stay. She lives not far away, and if you need her she is just a phone call away.
The house is everything as described, and is in the perfect location! Puerto Viejo was my favorite place by far in Costa Rica. The house is just outside the rustic, laid back town. A short ride to town, and you will find everything you need. We never felt unsafe, or had any concerns. It was paradise. We even walked in town at night, and everyone you come across will give you a big PURA VIDA
Now I will say this, it is definitely an early to bed and early to rise kind of place. The morning brings all the sounds of the jungle.........and that is a good thing. The sound of the surf will put you to sleep, and the birds will wake you up. The nights were cool and comfortable.
During our stay we had the pleasure to have a sloth come and visit us on the property. Humming birds were ever present with all the beautiful flowers in the garden.
I will recommend Magic Moon to anyone looking to visit the area, and I encourage you to stay in the area.......and enjoy Magic Moon.

Magic Moon Beach house was exactly as described in AirBnBand in the photos. The house was amazing and so close to the beach you had the constant sound of the surf, which was excellent to sleep to. The kitchen was easy to use and we had all the untensils and equipment needed. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the bathrooms and showers were clean and functional. Anja was great, I texted her an hour before arrival and she was there when we arrived to get us checked in. For someone looking for a true CR caribbean beach experience, I highly recommend Magic Moon!

A fantastic house with a lovely yard and great features. Note however, there are no washer/dryer machines in the house, despite them being in the amenities list, but rather "available laundry services" for a fee...not a big deal since we didn't strongly need to wash clothes during the couple days we were here, but it's something other guests should realize. Completely open format (no screens on most windows, etc.) means being able to live with the outdoor temperature and in harmony with insects, geckos, etc., but of course the beds have mosquito nets and there are ceiling fans. This is exactly what we were after, so it was great for us. Full kitchen with fridge so you can eat all your meals We would definitely stay here again if we revisited Puerto Viejo. Anja gave us all the info we needed upon arrival, and the rest of the time we were completely alone to ourselves. Highly recommended overall!

Very nice house right at the beach. Nice and friendly people. Good location.
The house is tidy and clean. Kitchen is perfectly eqipped. Almost everything is available in the house, even surf board and bikes to go to town

My friends and I stayed at the Magic Moon for several nights. It was such an adorable beach house and was stocked with everything needed to make the stay comfortable. The location was just meters from the beach and was very private. Having the house stocked with towels and other linens also made the stay so much more comfortable.
Big thanks to the manager for helping us organize our stay and our transportation back to the airport. This beach house is very much recommended!

My husband and I stayed at Magic Moon with our three children (13, 19, 21) and had a great time. We loved the fact that most of the house is open air. You can close off the bedrooms and kitchen area at night. We ate dinner every night on the porch listening to the sounds of the jungle. I cooked with fresh limes, grapefruit and lemon grass growing in the yard. We surfed, biked, and hiked the jungle. Don't miss the market Saturday mornings in town for fresh vegetables and homemade products. We went white water rafting on our way back to San jose. Ask Anja to help organize any activities you are interested in. She was a great resource!

We had the time of our lives, the house and area of Puerto Viejo were fantastic, people were easy to get along with and willing to help anytime asked. The area is extremely laid back with lots of places to explore. The beaches were incredible with good for swimming and snorkeling.
The towns in the area are full of activity, restaurants and grocery stores plus you can bye fresh fish, fruit and vegetables without any problem.
Nina is very friendly and will give you good advice when needed plus help you out with anything you need.
If you are looking for a place that is not all caught up in the fast life this is the place to go, we will definitely be going back.

We loved our holiday at the lovely Magic Moon House. There were 6 of us in total. Four adults and two teenagers and everyone had a wonderful time. I loved to get up early, make coffee and sit on the lovely deck overlooking the beach. There were Toucans that sat in a nearby palm and humming birds everywhere. We picked fresh limes and oranges off the trees on your property. We will be back next year and will certainly rent again. The house is clean and has every comfort. The beds are comfortable. We had a lovely rest in your beautiful home. Thank you for sharing!

We loved Magic Moon and would love to come back next year with friends. Perfect setting, fantastic veranda ,wonderful beach, great and friendly welcome/service/cleaning etc.All in all I couldn’t fault it (maybe a new frying pan but that’s all!) Thanks so much for sending on the CD from the Canopy.

We stayed Aug 10-13th at the Magic Moon House! The property was very nice, we utilized both levels (2 bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs). The layout of the house was great, a nice open kitchen, the outdoor space on the 2nd level is wonderful, my brother and cousins used the hammocks to relax a lot and you can see the ocean right in front of you. The rooms are very spacious and we appreciated the way the house was functional for us. The house grounds are really nice, it's like you're in your own oasis. We opened up the house doors and windows as much as possible....we even noticed a horse farm behind one of the bedroom windows that had live cattle, kind of cool for all the cows to do an about face and stare at us. The house does not have have AC, it has fans throughout the house but, honestly we were on the beach so, we felt the breeze...no need for AC. I will tell you that you will need bug spray and ant spray....the caribbean side is the natural side of costa rica so, you're living the simple life.

We stayed in Magic Moon house a few weeks ago. The house was tremendous. What a fantastic place to stay.
Couple that with the best customer service experience provided by Gecko and you have the formula for a perfect vacation.
Every adventure Gecko arranged for us was top notch and well worth the money. We did numerous trips including Cahuita snorkleing, chocolate making, waterfall climb, jungle hike, spa day and surf lessons. We loved every single one!
Thanks especially to Ashton for making our trip a huge success!

My husband and I recently spent five nights in the Magic Moon Beachhouse and had a wonderful time! The house is great -- lots of space, storage, fully equipped with linens, towels, beach towels, kitchen has everything -- and the private property is very lush! We had a great time cooking breakfast and dinner every day there, and hanging out on the front porch relaxing in the hammock. A great gem ~ would highly recommend staying here as it's safe, convenient to town, but secluded enough and very private! The managers and cleaning staff were friendly and very helpful if we needed anything too. Overall, great time and would come again!

Directly in front of the black beach, cute, comfortable, tropical, lovely gardens. We stayed there for 4 nights. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped and we spended most of the time on the porch, wich is a beautyful place to hang out in the hammock. The beach was just a cross a small street. Perfect! A great private place but a lot of amenities nearby.We highly recommend staying here, so much better than staying at a hotel. We had everything we needed! Thanks a lot!

Grossartiges,geräumiges und sehr gemütliches Haus mit wunderschönem Garten nur wenige Meter vom Meer entfernt.Sehr gut geeignet für Relax-Ferien.Von der Terrasse aus durch die Palmen das Meer zu sehen und die Tierwelt zu Beobachten war einmalig. Toll auch die Hauseigenen Fahrräder,somit konnten wir ganz unabhängig unterwegs sein.

We loved staying here! This place is a great value and looks just as huge in person as it does in the pictures. You also get a nice view of the beach through the palm trees from the top balcony. Anja was always easy to get in touch with, and had great tips and information about places to visit in Puerto Viejo.
